The Finance Ministry has requested all government offices to submit information on new projects that will be budgeted next year before May 30.
A circular signed and issued by Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer states that the ministry is currently in the process of formulating the mid-term budget for the period between 2023 and 2025. The budget will be based on the Strategic Action Plan (SAP) and the National Resilience and Recovery Plan (NRR). Therefore, all offices are asked to share information on their New Policy Initiatives before the end of May.
'The programs and projects proposed by state entities under the New Policy Initiative must align with the SAP and NRR. The link between the proposed projects and programs, Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), and the effects on gender equality must be stated,' the ministry said.
The Parliament approved a budget of MVR 37 billion for the current year. Next year's budget is expected to be bigger.
