Bottled water companies have limited the sale of bottled water due to high demand.
Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) said while the Maldives is currently experiencing the hottest days of the year, the demand for bottled water is very high. The bottled water requirement from the atolls is especially high, the company said.
MWSC sold five cases of 5-liter water bottles to local shops on Sunday. According to the company, the limit will be removed from Monday, and water will be available from the shops.
According to bottled water manufacturers, they will be prioritizing the sale of water to shops and individual customers over wholesale orders in this period.
