The yellow alert issued to northern atolls earlier on Tuesday has been maintained.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Meteorology Office issued a yellow alert until 7 pm due to adverse weather conditions in northern atolls. The alert was in effect between Ha. and M. atoll.
The Meteorology Office has now updated the advisory to be in effect until 1 am on Wednesday. The office said heavy rain and winds between 25 and 30 mph are expected. Winds of 50 mph are expected in gusts, and seas will be rough. Therefore, caution is advised when traveling by sea.
Heavy rain and strong winds are currently being experienced across the Maldives.
