Applications to open for 3,000 residential plots before July

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Wednesday revealed to the press that the administration plans to open applications for 3,000 residential plots in Malé City by the end of June.

Speaking to reporters at the President's Office, the President recalled his announcement of his plan to provide 5,000 residential plots from Hulhumalé and Gulhifalhu for permanent residents of Malé. He said that final preparations are now underway to open applications for the initial 3,000 residential plots later this month from Gulhifalhu and Giraavarufalhu.

The President announced plans to issue 2,000 land plots from Giraavarufalhi in his presidential address at the Parliament opening on February 3. During his speech, he revealed that 5,000 plots would be issued from the Greater Male' Area.

The President also gave details of the housing project in the atolls. He said a total of 2,180 houses are being constructed in various stages across the Maldives. He added that more than MVR 42 million is being disbursed to 82 people as homeowner loans.
