Local news outlet, Dhiyares' journalist Ahmed Azaan has been summoned to appear before the police.
According to the police, Azaan is being summoned before the police in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation. Police said they wanted to question Azaan regarding how he was able to access the personal information of government officials through the IGMH portal.
Azaan has been asked to appear before the police station at 3 pm on Thursday.
Azaan has previously said that police have not given specific reasons for the charges against him. He said he wrote about how information was leaked and got into the hands of someone.
Azaan is being summoned to the police while President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih Monday approved the Evidence Bill, which forces journalists to disclose the source of their news stories.
