Mondhu resigns from PSM board

Mohamed 'Mondhu' Asif has resigned from the board of the state-owned media company, Public Service Media (PSM). Mondhu submitted his resignation earlier Wednesday.

Speaking to AVAS on Thursday, Mondhu said he resigned from the PSM board after receiving a good offer to work in a private media outlet. He said it would be a conflict of interest to work in two media outlets at the same time.

"I believe it is not right to work in two competing media outlets at the same time. That is why I resigned from the board of PSM early last night," Mondhu said.

Mondhu last worked in a private media firm, VMedia Group. He resigned from VMedia on December 30, 2019, after working there for seven years. After resigning from VMedia, Mondhu has been doing his own media-related work under the name of Mondhu Production. He is currently a consultant for a private media outlet. Mondhu will be taking a permanent position at the same media outlet, AVAS has learned.

“I will announce the next media outlet I will be joining later,” said Mondhu, who is also the Chairman of the National Archives board.

Mondhu started his media career in 1991 at TVM. He left TVM after working there for 23 years. In recognition of his work in the media sector, the Maldives government has awarded him the National Award in the area of Information and News Dissemination.
