Maldives' export value reached MVR 2.6 billion in August this year, statistics have shown.
According to customs data, Maldives' exports during the same period last year stood at MVR 2.1 billion. This year's export value is a 12 percent increase compared to the previous year.
The Maldives mainly exports seafood and fish products. Maldives exported frozen seafood worth MVR 823 million by the end of August this year. Seafood exports worth MVR 308 million were recorded during the period.
The Maldives also exports tuna chunks, loins, and canned fish.
Statistics show that most products were exported to Thailand. As of August, goods worth over MVR 808 million were exported to Thailand. Maldives exported goods worth MVR 767 million to Thailand during the same period last year.
Exports to Germany were valued at 152 million, and exports to the UK were valued at MVR 150 million. India is also among the countries to which a significant amount of local goods are exported. In this regard, exports to India stood at MVR 75 million.
