Mohamed Azaad has been appointed as the Financial Controller.
According to the Public Finance Act, the President has the power to appoint persons to the post of Finance Controller.
Azaad was appointed as the Financial Controller following the resignation of his predecessor, Fathimath Razeena. Razeena resigned on Sunday after six years in office to pursue her Ph.D. in Australia.
Azaad holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Finance. He is also a CFA charter holder.

The main responsibility of the Financial Controller is to oversee and administer the financial system of the State as determined by the Auditor General, to manage the revenue received by the State, and to establish a system to recover the money owed to the State.
