Transport Ministry's Deputy Minister Shimaz Ali has been attacked.
Shimaz was attacked by a group on Male' streets on Friday night. However, no details of his injuries are known.
Shimaz could not be reached for comment on the incident. However, Shimaz's party, MRM has confirmed that he was attacked. The MMR condemned the attack on Shimaz and called for an investigation into the attack.
Shimaz was attacked amid a major dispute between him and Transport Minister Aisha Nahla. The minister is reportedly accusing Shimaz of corruption in vehicle-related work within the Transport Ministry. However, Shimaz denies the allegations.
Some people had previously threatened Shimaz and caused damage to his motorcycle.
