Children's rights must be protected, says pres

Children's rights must be protected and their safety must be ensured, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said.

In a tweet published on the occasion of World Children’s Day, the President said we must ensure that every child realizes their full potential in a society that is inclusive, free of violence and harm, and where their rights are fully protected.

There are important laws in place to ensure the rights of children in the Maldives. However, the statistics do not show that children's rights are adequately protected.

World Children's Day is celebrated on November 20 every year to raise awareness about the rights of children. This year, the UN has adopted the theme "Inclusion for Every Child" to celebrate the day.
