State receives estimated amount of non-tax revenue

The state has received the estimated amount of non-tax revenue this year.

According to the weekly figures released by the Finance Ministry, the government expected to receive MVR 6.4 billion in non-tax revenue this year. As of the 17th of this month, the government had collected MVR 6.5 billion in non-tax revenue, crossing the estimated figure.

The non-tax revenue targets for 2021 and 2020 were not met. However, the non-tax revenue targets for 2019 and 2018 were met.

Non-tax revenue includes airport development fees, resort rent, and penalties.

This year, resort rent stood at MVR 1.5 billion while revenue generated as airport development fees stood at MVR 720.4 million. Registration and license fees stood at MVR 716 million while dividends from government-owned companies stood at MVR 597.8 million. The state has also received MVR 22.5 million in fines so far this year.

The government's estimated tax revenue target was achieved before the end of October. According to the Finance Ministry, the government expected to receive MVR 15.3 billion from taxes this year. The government has received MVR 16.9 billion in tax revenue and MVR 23.6 billion in total revenue and grants thus far this year.
