The government spent MVR 664.5 million during the first five days of 2023.
According to statistics published by the Finance Ministry, MVR 664.5 million was spent on salaries, administrative and running expenses, and loan repayments as of January 5.
Of the government expenditure, MVR 295.6 million was spent on salaries, administrative, and operating expenses. Capital expenditure stood at MVR 90.5 million, and loan repayments at MVR 278.4 million. The expenditure for this period included MVR 171 million on subsidies and MVR 89.3 million on PSIP development projects.
The government received MVR 61.9 million in revenue during the period. This includes tax revenue of MVR 23.1 million and non-tax revenue of MVR 38.6 million. In this regard, resort land rent revenue stood at MVR 32.6 million, while GST collection stood at MVR 14.5 million.
