Saudi Arabia has donated 50 tons of dates to the Maldives.
The dates were donated in a ceremony held at the Islamic Ministry on Tuesday after a delegation from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid, and Relief Center arrived in the Maldives to hand over the donation officially. The donation was handed over to Islamic Minister Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali by the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to the Maldives, Matrek Abdullah Al-Ajalin Aldosari.
The Ambassador said that as part of the close relationship between Saudi Arabia and the people of the Maldives, the dates were donated to the Maldives similar to previous years on behalf of Saudi Arabia's King, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The Ambassador noted that Saudi Arabia always wishes well for the Maldives. He expressed hope of further strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
At the ceremony, Minister Zahir thanked the Saudi King, Crown Prince, and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre delegation for the donation.
The distribution of the dates will be announced next week.
