Haroon Rasheed has been dismissed as the Managing Director of Agro National Corporation (Agro Net).
Agro Nat is a government-owned company established to provide markets for local farmers' products. Haroon was appointed as the company's MD in 2020.
While the main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is currently seeing internal division like never before, with one faction supporting President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the other, Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed, Haroon backed Nasheed in the party's recent presidential primary.
The government has been sacking government officials who support Nasheed over President Solih. Minister at the President's Office Mohamed Shifaz and the Managing Director of the State Trading Organization (STO) Hussain Amr are among those dismissed.
