The funds disbursed to government-owned companies thus far this year have already exceeded the allocated budget.
The state budget allocated MVR 370 million for SOEs this year.
According to the Finance Ministry, MVR 406 million has been disbursed to SOEs as of March 23. This is MVR 36 million more than the budgeted amount.
Statistics show MVR 193.6 million was disbursed to SOEs during the same period last year.
Although some government-owned companies are making profits, the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) has noted that several companies suffer significant financial losses.
