The Vice Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), Mr Deng Boqing, paid a courtesy call on Vice President Faisal Naseem on Sunday. The meeting was held at the President's Office.
At the meeting, the Vice President and CIDCA's Vice Chairman reflected on the Maldives' long-standing and strong bilateral relationship with China, which spans over 50 years. They also spoke about the improved relations and the commitments fulfilled over the previous years.
Speaking with Mr Deng, the Vice President stated that China contributed immensely to the socioeconomic development of the Maldives and assured that the Maldives would uphold the strong friendship built over the years. They also extensively spoke about areas of mutual interest, including tourism, healthcare, infrastructure development, climate action, and adaptation.
The Vice President noted that the Maldives needed the support of all its partners to deal with the uncertainties of climate change, especially in accessing finance to build resilient communities. In conclusion, the Vice President and Vice Chairman of CIDCA reiterated their commitment to collaborating closely to strengthen the current relationships and stressed their enthusiasm for additional collaboration.
