HPA urges to take precautions with spike in COVID-19 cases

Statistics have shown that 84 people have tested positive for COVID-19 thus far this month.

According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), the number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives has been increasing since late last month. Statistics show 73 of the 84 positive cases so far this month are from the Male' area. Out of these, 17 people are being treated in hospitals.

In addition to COVID-19, the number of dengue and asthma cases has also increased. One hundred and forty-six dengue cases were recorded in February, and the number increased to 169 in March. Therefore, the HPA has urged people to take precautions.

HPA said 30,628 cases of various common colds were reported in February and increased to 37,969 in March.
