The government has spent MVR 816 million on loan repayments thus far this year.
According to the Finance Ministry, MVR 816.9 million has been spent on loan repayments as of the 13th of this month. This is an increase of MVR 182.2 million over the same period last year. The government spent MVR 634.7 million in loan repayments during the same period last year.
The budget estimates that the state will spend MVR 2.1 billion on loan repayment this year.
According to the Finance Ministry, government expenditure stands at MVR 12.7 billion so far this year. Of this, MVR 8.7 billion is recurrent expenditure, while MVR 3.9 billion is capital expenditure. The state has received MVR 9.7 billion in revenue so far this year, including a tax revenue of MVR 7.3 billion and non-tax revenue of MVR 2.4 billion.
