Gov't spends MVR 14 bln in first four months

The government spent MVR 14 billion in the first four months of this year.

According to the Finance Ministry, government expenditure stood at MVR 14.8 billion as of April 27. This is an 18 percent increase over the MVR 12.1 billion spent during the same period last year.

During the first four months of the month, salaries, allowances, and pensions stood at MVR 3.7 billion, while administrative and operating expenses stood at MVR 6.4 billion. Loan repayments stood at MVR 857.2 million, while development projects and public sector investment programs stood at MVR 4 billion.

The state received MVR 10.4 billion in revenue during the period. These include tax revenue of MVR 7.8 billion and non-tax revenue of MVR 2.5 billion.
