ACC halts lagoon sale by Villa

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has halted the sale of a lagoon owned by Jumhooree Party leader Gasim Ibrahim's Villa company.

The ACC intervened to stop the sale of Vaaveddhifalhu, a lagoon that was leased to Villa by the government.

When contacted by AVAS, ACC's Senior Communication Officer, Nishan Mohamed, confirmed that the sale of a lagoon had been suspended. According to Nishan, the ACC took this action due to an ongoing investigation pertaining to the lagoon. However, when inquired regarding the timing of the ACC's intervention, Nishan declined to provide the information.

The ACC has previously investigated a case related to Vaaveddhifalhu. However, the case was filed after investigation. The ACC has resumed its investigation after another case related to the lagoon was submitted to the ACC.

In an exclusive interview with his TV channel, VTV, last Friday, Gasim Ibrahim alleged that the current government, like previous governments, has begun targeting his business interests. However, he did not share specific details regarding the allegations.
