Kaashidhoo MP re-joins MDP

Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir has signed up for the main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

Jabir signed up for the party at a ceremony held at Salt Cafe on Sunday. Jabir arrived at the venue accompanied by a traditional procession. The ceremony was attended by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, MDP Chairperson Fayyaz Ismail, and several MDP MPs, and Jabir's membership form was personally received by President Solih.

At the ceremony, President Solih expressed that Jabir's decision to join the MDP was a step forward for the party.

Jabir had previously been a member of the MDP, the now-dissolved Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP), as well as Jumhooree Party (JP). Most recently, he has been working on establishing his own party, the Green Party of Maldives.

On re-joining the MDP, Jabir said those who opposed his membership are no longer part of the party. He affirmed his support for President Solih's candidacy in the upcoming presidential election and expressed his commitment to working towards that goal.
