Dollar revenue increases by 16 percent

The government's dollar revenue stood at US$439.3 million as of May this year.

According to the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), revenue in dollars this May increased by 16 percent over the same period last year when revenue amounted to US$378.4 million.

Despite this positive growth in dollar revenue during May, it is worth noting that there has been a month-on-month decline since March, as indicated by statistics:

Dollar income monthly

January - US$112.8 million
February - US$73.6 million
March - US$100.9 million
April - US$77.35 million
May - US$72.7 million

The increase in dollar revenue is primarily due to the change in the rate of TGST from January 1 this year.
