The government will hand over the land under its landowner program in August this year, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the second phase of the Gulhifahu land reclamation project, President Solih said the complaints received on the preliminary list of land beneficiaries would be considered, and the problems in the list will be resolved. The land will be issued to recipients in August at the latest, he said.
President Solih said 6,200 plots of land will be issued to Male' residents. These include 2,200 plots in Hulhumale' more than 2,000 plots in Gulhifalhu, and additional plots from Giraavarufalhu. The president said over 20 hectares of land have already been dredged from Giraavaru.
