Pres Solih inaugurates Raiymandhoo's new power house

Meemu Raiymandhoo's new power plant has been officially opened.

The power plant was inaugurated by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih during his current visit to the island as part of his re-election campaign tour.

The power plant is built away from the residential area and has enough space to provide electricity and other services. Three generator sets have been installed at the new power plant with a total capacity of 480 kW. The three generators previously used in Raiymandhoo produced a total of 384 kW.

The former power plant, which has been in operation for the past 25 years, only had a control room and an engine room. The newly built and opened engine room includes these two services as well as a store room and workshop.

President Solih has established 73 new power plants so far during the current term.
