Maldives' official reserves at US$694 mln at end of August

The Maldives' official reserves stood at US$694 million at the end of August, the Central Bank, the Monetary Authority of Maldives (MMA) has said.

According to MMA data, official reserves stood at $790 million in January this year. The most recent data show that while the official reserves stood at US$594 in August, this is an increase of $100 million from $594 million in the previous month.

Meanwhile, usable reserves stood at $150 million at the end of August after deducting short-term debt from official reserves, compared to $125 million in July this year.

Monthly statistics for official reserves and usable reserves :

January: Official reserves $790 million - Usable reserves $253.8 million
February: Official reserves $795.8 million - Usable reserves $235.4 million
March: Official reserves $764.6 million - Usable reserves $200.2 million
April: Official reserves $756.8 million - Usable reserves $151.3 million
May: Official reserves $748.2 million - Usable reserves $147.7 million
June: Official reserves $702.2 million - Usable reserves $168.1 million
July: Official reserves $594.1 million - Usable reserves $125 million

The Finance Ministry estimates that official reserves will stand at $606.3 million by the end of the year.
