President-Elect Muizzu denies halt of ongoing projects, assures continuity

President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasized that he has not requested any ongoing projects to be halted or postponed.

In a social media post on platform X, Dr. Muizzu clarified that he has not instructed any project to be stopped or delayed, nor has anyone on his behalf issued such an order.

“I would like to reassure the people that the allegations that we are ordering work to be stopped on some islands and unloading machinery are untrue," he wrote.

However, Dr. Muizzu did submit a letter to the government outlining certain requests considering the ongoing government transition process. These requests include instructions against:

- initiating new investments
- transferring state property ownership
- commencing new Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP) projects
- permitting the sale of state land
- hiring individuals for state positions
- signing international treaties and agreements
- promoting personnel in state positions
- changing the salary structure of any agency.
