Felidhoo MP steps down, Fonadhoo MP joins PNC

The Parliament has announced the resignation of Felidhoo MP Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed and Fonadhoo MP Moosa Siraj's joining of the ruling Peoples' National Congress (PNC).

Beginning Wednesday's Parliament sitting, Speaker Mohamed Aslam said Moosa Siraj, previously registered as an independent member, had joined the PNC and submitted the relevant documents affirming the decision.

Meanwhile, Felidhoo MP Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed resigned from the parliament on Tuesday, Aslam said. Fazul resigned from the Parliament after being appointed as the Managing Director of Urbanco.

As per these changes, the composition of members is now as follows:

MDP - 56 members
The Democrats - 13 members
PNC - 2 members
PPP - 2 members
MDA - 2 members
JP - 2 members
Independent - 3 members

Several parliament members have resigned from the Parliament to join President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's government.
