Financial details of Pres Dr. Muizzu's int'l trips to be disclosed within 15 days

The financial details of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's international travels will be made public within 15 days after the conclusion of each trip, the President's Office has said.

President Dr. Muizzu made the decision in a move towards heightened transparency. This decision comes while the president has undertaken two international trips since his inauguration on November 17, where he visited Turkiye and later Abu Dhabi, UAE, attending the ongoing COP28 Summit. The President remains in the UAE at present.

The President's Office Saturday said that the relevant authorities would disclose the information regarding expenditures from the state budget related to these trips in adherence to the President's commitment to transparency.

The President's decision to disclose the details of his trips contrasts with some previous governments' stances, which had declined to reveal specific information about some of the trips undertaken by the President.
