President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Fathimath Inaya as the Foreign Secretary of Maldives. With this appointment, Inaya becomes the first woman to hold this position in the country's history.
The official letter of appointment was presented to Fathimath Inaya during a ceremony at the President's Office on Tuesday morning. Formerly serving as a deputy minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Inaya's new role as Foreign Secretary comes at State Minister level.
According to the President's Office, the current administration is highly committed to women's empowerment and gender-equal opportunities as top priorities.
