Major economic strides anticipated during Pres Dr. Muizzu's first year: Econ Minister

Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed has expressed optimism about the anticipated economic progress during the first year of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's administration.

In a post on social media platform X, Saeed said that the positive results will become evident within President Muizzu's first year in office.

“President Dr. Muizzu's first year will also be a historic year of economic progress-- during which the industrial foundation to propel the nation to new heights would be laid, and significant progress would be witnessed," he wrote.

The minister referred to President Dr. Muizzu's 100-day plans, "Week 14" and lauded the goals, stating that the proposed plans for the first 100 days of the administration align with the scale of a one-year plan from the past.

The minister's remarks come while the Maldives has already received its first proposal for the Special Economic Zone (SEZ). According to President Dr. Muizzu, this SEZ proposal will achieve 110 MW of renewable energy. Meanwhile, government security was listed on the Maldives Stock Exchange for the first time on Thursday.
