Former Chief of Staff to contest for Felidhoo seat in upcoming election

Former Chief of Staff at the President's Office, Ali Zahir has decided to contest for the V. Felidhoo seat in the upcoming parliamentary election.

Ali Zahir, who is also the Vice President of the Adhaalath Party, made the announcement in a post on X on Saturday night. He has not disclosed the political party under whose banner he will be contesting the parliamentary seat.

"I intend to contest for the upcoming 20th Parliament to represent the people of V. Felidhoo constituency and to make the voice of the constituency heard in Parliament", his post read.

The Felidhoo constituency is the least populated constituency in the country. The constituency includes V. Felidhoo, V. Fulidhoo and V. Thinadhoo. The seat is currently vacant in the 19th Parliament as Fazul Rasheed, who was the Member of Parliament for the constituency, resigned from the position to assume the role of Managing Director of Urbanco.
