The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has refuted claims of any drone attacks targeting vessels in or near the coast of the Maldives. This statement comes in response to reports on social media suggesting that Yemeni Houthi fighters utilized a drone to assault an oil tanker transporting oil to Israel within Maldivian territory.
The MNDF said that the news that such an incident occurred in or near Maldives is not based on any authentic reports. The defense force emphasized that regional authorities have not received any information regarding such an event.
MNDF said some of the information and photos of the alleged event being shared are incidents that occurred outside Maldivian waters in the past.
