Gov't to submit 24 bills for current Parliament session

The government has presented 24 bills for the first session of the Parliament for this year.

According to Rule 82,d) of the Parliament Rules, at the commencement of each session of Parliament, the Government shall send to the Speaker of Parliament a list of the Bills to be introduced by the Government for that session.

"A list of bills to be introduced by the government for this session was received on February 12, 2024. The list includes 24 bills," Speaker Mohamed Aslam said at Tuesday's Parliament sitting.

Bills to be introduced by the Government for this session of Parliament are:

1) Land Bill
2) Housing Bill
3) Real Estate Business Bill
4) Urban Planning and Urban Development Bill
5) Mental Health Bill
6) Health Services Act Amendment Bill
7) Copyright and Other Related Rights Amendment Bill
8) Travel Planning Services Bill
9) Sovereign Development Fund Bill
10) Criminal Procedure Act Amendment Bill
11) Foreign Investment Bill
12) Business Registration Act Amendment Bill
13) Financial Securities Act Amendment Bill
14) Diplomatic Privileges Bill
15) State Fiscal Responsibility Bill
16) The Legal Professions Act Amendment Bill
17) Land Transport Act Amendment Bill
18) Tourism Act Amendment Bill
19) Financial Assistance to Unemployed Persons Bill
20) Employment Act Amendment Bill
21) Protection and Privileges of Former Presidents Act Amendment Bill
22) Drugs Act Amendment Bill
23) Media Commission Bill

The Speaker said the list of the bills will be shared with the members and will be published on the parliament's website.
