Former MIFCO MD Samah appointed as State Minister of Fisheries

Ahmed Samah Rasheed, recently dismissed as the Managing Director of the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO), has been appointed as the State Minister of the Fisheries Ministry.

With his appointment, the ministry now has three state ministers.

The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) announced Samah's removal from his MIFCO position earlier yesterday, though no specific reason was provided for his dismissal.

Samah was previously suspended from his position at MIFCO on March 18, with the suspension later being lifted in the third week of April. The suspension was related to allegations of using a MIFCO building for political purposes, leveraging his position to employ certain individuals, and giving gifts to People's National Congress (PNC) candidates who won in the recent parliamentary elections.
