President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed members to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC). The ceremony to present the letters of appointment was held at the President’s Office on Tuesday morning.
At today’s ceremony, the President appointed the Speaker of Parliament, Abdul Raheem Abdulla, as a member of the JSC, and the Member of Parliament from the Maafushi constituency, Hussain Riza Adam, to represent the Parliament at the JSC. The Honorable Supreme Court Justice, Dr Mohamed Ibrahim, administered the oath of office. After the oath-taking ceremony, the President presented the official letters of appointment to the newly inducted members.
The 10-member Judicial Service Commission consists of the Speaker of the People’s Majlis, a Judge of the Supreme Court, a Judge of the High Court, a Judge of the Lower Courts, a member of the People’s Majlis, a member of the general public, the President of the Civil Service Commission, a member appointed by the President, the Attorney General, and a lawyer elected from among the lawyers licensed to practice in the Maldives.
