Gov't lists employers owing over MVR 100,000 in worker-related fees

The Ministry of Homeland Security has released a list of employers whose unpaid fees and penalties for foreign worker permits exceed MVR 100,000. The details were published in the Government Gazette on Wednesday.

The ministry has instructed these parties to settle their debt by August 12. If they fail to do so before the designated deadline, permits will no longer be issued to them through the Expat system, the ministry said.

The list released by the ministry includes more than 1,000 entities, among them some of the largest business companies in the Maldives, as well as several with political connections. The list reveals that some companies owe the state over a million in fees and penalties.
