The Parliament has voted to extend its current session until August 26.
According to Parliament rules, the current session is scheduled to end on August 15. However, at today's sitting, Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla proposed the extension as there are important pending works that cannot be completed by the original session deadline.
The session has now been extended until August 26. The extension was approved unanimously by all 80 members present at Tuesday's sitting.
