Gov't to clear all pending payments to private parties by Nov

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the government is actively working to settle outstanding payments to various private parties by November this year.

In a special interview given to Youth Minister Ibrahim Waheed-owned SanguTV, President Dr. Muizzu revealed that when he assumed office, the state had billions in pending payments owed to private parties. He said the government aims to pay all dues to these entities by November.

"A significant portion of the payments will be settled during this period. We've already disbursed a substantial amount to fishermen, with over a billion already paid. However, some payments for the previous month remain pending," the President stated.

The president said a lot of work is already ongoing behind the scenes for the development of Maldives. Noting that it typically takes a year to kickstart major projects at the beginning of a new government, the President said the initial phases of major projects have almost reached completion.

Confirming that development projects are progressing, the President mentioned that the section of the new terminal at Velana International Airport scheduled for this year is set to be completed on time. India and China are offering various opportunities for housing projects, he added.

The President said the government's sound foreign policy has paved the way for numerous opportunities as evidenced by his visits to Turkey, China, and India since he took office. He expressed optimism about the country's economic prospects, indicating that the impact of the government's economic measures will become evident soon.
