The third session of the 20th Parliament is set to commence on October 7.
Concluding recently held extraordinary sittings of the Parliament on Tuesday, Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla said the first sitting of the third session has been scheduled for October 7.
The extraordinary sessions were held as per Parliament Rules after over 50 MPs signed a request to hold the sessions, to appoint an individual to the vacant post of Prosecutor General and to approve the government proposed amendments to the Companies Act. Tuesday’s sitting saw Abbas Shareef confirmed for appointment as PG, and the Companies Act amendments were also passed.
