Gov't to establish Economic Reform Office, seeks commissioner

The Finance Ministry has announced the establishment of an Economic Reform Office to oversee and expedite government agency reform efforts aimed at strengthening the country's financial system.

An announcement by the Finance Ministry today said those interested in applying for the post of the 'Commissioner of Reform', who will head the new office, are invited to submit their applications by 1:00 pm on December 8.

The Commissioner of Reform will serve a two-year term and will report directly to the Finance Minister, and provide counsel to the minister as required. As per the announcement, the salary of the commissioner will be determined through mutual agreement between the selected candidate and the ministry.

The main eligibility criteria for applicants are:

- A degree in accounting or finance
- At least 10 years of work experience in a relevant field.
- National and international experience
- Experience in policymaking and management

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's government has decided to take strong measures to address the country's economic challenges. Key measures include merging state-owned companies, dissolving unnecessary enterprises, and reforming subsidy policies and the national health insurance scheme, Aasandha.
