Maldivian set to launch long-haul flights with wide-body aircraft

National airline, Maldivian, is gearing up to introduce wide-body A330 aircraft to its fleet.

Speaking to the state media PSM, Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen said A330 model aircraft have been sent to Singapore for a livery upgrade, featuring the airline's signature colors and design.

The minister said according to the current timeline, the livery work is scheduled to be completed by December 31, with the aircraft set to arrive in the Maldives on January 7. According to the schedule, Maldivian's long-haul scheduled flights are set to commence on January 17. The aircraft used for long-distance flights will feature 264 seats: 18 in business class, 36 in premium economy, and 210 in economy class.

Maldivian is already seeking general passenger sales from Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, and South Africa in its bid to increase connectivity and expand its international reach.

Maldivian's current fleet includes a narrow-body A320 aircraft.
