High Court Judge Dr. Azmiraldha Zahir has resigned from her post. She had submitted her resignation to JSC President. JSC has confirmed that the resignation had been submitted.
Prior to her resignation, Dr. Azmiraldha was serving as a Judge in the Southern Branch of the Court. She had consistently expressed her dissatisfaction regarding the move and had submitted the case to the Parliament Committee as well. However, the Committee had refused to review the case.
She was appointed as a Judge of High Court in 2011. Dr. Azmiraldha was transferred to the South branch this year.
Dr. Azmiraldha's father, former Speaker of Parliament Seena Ahmed Zahir, had also expressed concerns over the issue.
