Criminal Court Judge Abdul Baaree Yoosuf said the Judges and Police were carrying out national duties and likened it to a national "jihad".
Speaking in the session held for Police in the Judges Symposium, Judge Baaree urged all to seek lessons from the legacy of King Ali, noting that it was crucial to create a peaceful society.
"He could have fled, stating personal security reasons. We are carrying out a national jihad. We are working for the betterment of the nation. If we view King Ali as an example, we can achieve a peaceful society," Judge Baaree said.
Speaking in the Symposium, Commissioner of Police Ahmed Areef said the Judges had a unique role to play in the society and any issue either the Police or Judges faced has to be resolved. He further said both Police and Judges have to work in coordination to resolve all possible issues.
"A solution cannot be found by filing cases. Eliminating crime is the way. We will work to address the situation," CP said.
CP said in some islands crime was virtually non-existent, noting that this was due to the work carried out by the public and Police.
