The Government has passed to issue licenses to cycle taxis in the country.
Speaking to press from Sri Lanka, Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed said the service will be first introduced to Male' city assigned to an appropriate partner.
Minister said the license will be issued to women as well and will lessen the traffic burden in the city.
"Women will be able to ride along female drivers and this is a beneficial development," the Minister said.
Service provision is restricted to taxi service companies. Minister Saeed said the potential taxi service providers can apply for the service. He added that a charge of MVR 10 will be applicable for the service.
