Judge Baaree breaks record with 12 hour trial

Thursday was a remarkable day for the country's judiciary. Judge Baaree conducted trials on Thursday which lasted nearly 12 hours.

With this Judge Baaree has clearly made a record for the feat.

Judge Baaree began Thursday with the hearing of the terror charges filed against former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb and two of his body guards over the botched assassination attempt on the President's life. The case began at 10:30 am. The statements of the witnesses were taken in the hearing. The hearings began at around 1:10 pm following a short recess and concluded at around 4:40 pm. The hearings were concluded after scheduling for an additional hearing later that night.

The second case the Judge reviewed that day was the cases filed against the former PG Muhthaz Muhsin and Maamigilee Constituency MP Ahmed Nihan over the forged court warrant issued for the arrest of President Abdullah Yameen. The cases was assigned to Judge Baaree on Wednesday and he had announced that he would process the two cases as one. Even in this hearing the statements of the witnesses was heard.

That hearing was concluded at around 6:45 pm to give the defedents Muhthaz and Nihan to break their fasts. The hearing was resumed at around 7:15pm and concluded at 9:00 pm. The hearings of the Finifenmaa case began around 9:30 pm and proceeded until 10:30. The hearings were concluded after taking all the statements of the witnesses.

Judge Baaree resumed the cases filed against Nihan and Muhhaz at 11:00 pm and took the statements of the remaining witnesses. It finally concluded around 1:20 am. Judge Baaree's work day on Thursday, began at around 10:30 in the morning, closing in the early hours of the morning.

This is an unseen precedent set in the country's judiciary. While the efforts of the Judges have to recognized, it is undoutable the cases had ended up in the judiciary,
