President Mohamed Nasheed

Nasheed made no contribution to journalism: Nihan

PPM PG Leader and Vilimale' Constituency MP Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik has said that the former President Mohamed Nasheed had made no contribution either to the field of journalism or literature.

Speaking in DhiTV's "Khabaru therein" program, Nihan said all the former President had done was to seek salvation from foreign nations and parties and had found fame by spreading false stories. However, Nihan said the only substantial work Nasheed had carried out was the book written on the role of the English in the Maldives under the title "Dhagandu Dhahanaa". Nihan said the rest of the work carried out by Nasheed, served only one purpose: to create chaos to pit the public against the Government.

"I wonder what other work Nasheed had produced in his literary career apart from the dhagandu dhahanaa. Apart from that all he had contributed was the articles in Sangu, which had only sowed discontent in the public,"

"There are many who had rendered invaluable service to the literature of the country, now and before. Nasheed had not rendered such a service," he said.

Nihan said Nasheed had claimed asylum from the English many times over and had even been granted asylum back in 2003. He said Nasheed had claimed asylum on the falsified grounds that he wanted to save the nation from a tyrannical regime. He also asserted that foreign nations supported him to further their anti-Islamic agenda.
