UN envoy for the All Party Talks Tamrat Samuel has arrived in Maldives today and the Government reported that the All Party Talks can resume tomorrow.
The President's Special Appointee to the Talks, Fisheries Minister Dr. Mohamed Shainee said the Talks will now proceed with deadlines and targets. When questioned whether the discussions will proceed at the same platform, he said the Talks will proceed as arranged by the UN envoy and will talk to all representatives of the Parties.
Dr. Shainee called on all opposition leaders to come to Maldives and participate in the discussions. He noted that the Government will not be able to create a conducive environment for the discussions in the UK. Dr. Shainee did not reveal an agenda to the talks, adding that discussions will be held with registered political parties and said that he was not aware of an Opposition.
Dr. Shainee today even stressed that national development was the priority now and said that the Government was willing to negotiate and compromise when the situation required it.
