Some Members of Parliament have confirmed that Parliament sessions will resume after the Independence Day holidays.
Speaking to Avas, PPM Deputy PG Leader Riyaz Rasheed said that Parliament sessions will not be held from Tuesday to Thursday this week as they are public holidays. He said the Parliament sessions will resume after the public holidays.
Parliament Secretary General Ahmed Mohamed said no Parliament sessions had been scheduled for tomorrow. He said the next session of the Parliament will be held next week .
It is expected that the bills on defamation and freedom of expression will be carried out from next week onward. Many journalists had expressed their concerns even over the amended bill on defamation. However, MP for Ungoofaaru Constituency, Jaufar Daood, said the bill was crafted, addressing all issues expressed by journalists.
