The 10th season of X-Files came to an end on February 22, 2016, with the finale watched by 7.60 million viewers.
In May, FOX's Chairman and CEO Dana Walden said that discussions have been ongoing between FOX, David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and creator Chris Carter for an 11th season. However, season 11 is not expected to hit the screens until 2017- 2018 tv series.
The 11th season would most likely consist of eight or ten episodes.
Following this revelation, Duchovny and X-Files official twitter account tweeted teasers of the release.
