The training of nurses required by the cancer center in the hospital in Hulhumale' that is being opened late next month has started in India. 6 nurses have been sent to India in the first round of training.

The cancer center in the new hospital is being built along with the famous Manipal Hospital of India. The training of Maldivian doctors and Nurses will be carried out during this time. The training is also carried out by the Manipal Hospital. More nurses and doctors will be trained after the opening of the center.

CEO of NSPA Mujuthaba Ali Jaleel said of the hospital, which is also covered by Aasandha, that the work on the cancer center is going at a fast rate. He said that the civil work as well as other preparations needed to start the center has started, and that the machines needed by the center have been ordered. He also said the machines will arrive by the end of this month and that after being installed in the hospital, service will begin late next month.

While cancer is one of the most common non-contagious diseases in the Maldives, NSPA reported that MVR 60 million was spent last year alone.
